How To Clean Your Skateboard Bearings and Wheels

As with any motor vehicle or the other, skateboard also require routine maintenance. When you hear the sound that is not reasonable or squeaking from your skateboard bearings, or your skateboard wheels does not rotate as it should, then this is the time for you to do service for your skateboard.

Here are tips how to clean and care for your skateboard :

1.  Release  the skateboard wheels from the trucks using a socket wrench or a skate tool.

2.  Then, remove from the bearings. To do this, almost back to hook the wheel axle (which must be shot hooked to the end of the axle) and slowly pry the wheel, with the bullet out poping. You must be very careful when doing this, because it can damage the bearings. (But if you plan to replace the old bearings with new, you can purchase hard as you want but be careful not to damage the wheels.)

3.         Once you have separated the bearings from the wheels, you can now clean them separately.

4.         To clean the wheels, use water or mild soap and water solution. Brush the dirt off the wheels or simply wipe them with rag or towel. Check and remove dirt embedded in and around the wheel. Dry the wheels with cloth or towel.

5.         Now, clean the bearings. Take one bearing and spray every edge with a generous amount of Tri-flow Superior Lubricant. Do this on both sides of the bearings. Make sure that you are able to flush away all the dirt inside and in between the ball bearings. Repeat the same procedure to the rest of the bearings.

6.         Once you are done with all the bearings, you can attach them one by one back to the wheels immediately or let them leak and dry first.

7.         Reattach the wheel and bearings assembly back to the truck.

If you have the time to do all these, you can do like the tips  above, and the opposite if you too busy to do like that, just clean the bearings while still inside the wheel. To do this, remove the wheels from the truck and spray Tri-flow Superior Lubricant directly to the bearings. Put down the wheels assembly to remove the lubricant inside. Then, reattach the wheels back to the trucks. While you cleans the bearings, you may want to periodically remove the bearings off its wheel for thorough maintenance.

This routine activity not only save your money, because you should not need to buy a new skateboard. But more than that you will improve your skateboarding experience, and it also will extend your skateboard bearings and wheels  lifespan. Even the process looks to be meticulous but it could be so simple if you do it routinely.
